Comedy at the Corn Exchange
Join us for the opening night of the Biggar Laughs comedy club at the Corn Exchange hosted by Biggar resident and the longest running panellist on BBC Scotland’s “Breaking the News” Stuart Mitchell. “Work of genius” – Daily Record ★★★★★
This new quarterly comedy club will showcase some of the very best performers across the UK as well as international acts. Even better there will be very special and secret appearances from the biggest stars testing new material before their arena tours as well as rising stars before they hit the big time!
Our opening night on Friday 31st March is headlined by Raymond Mearns! He is one of the UK’s busiest circuit comics and can be seen regularly performing at venues all across the country and frequently on the International Comedy Circuit.
Described by Frankie Boyle as ‘a genuine improvisational genius’, Raymond is at last gaining wider recognition as one of the most consistent comedians in the land.
All the while he has also balanced his comedy career to incorporate work as a character actor in film and TV, with roles in “Rab C Nesbitt”, “River City”, “Limmy’s Show” and “Legit’” amongst many others.
“A Genuine Improvisational Genius” – Frankie Boyle
“Exceptionally Funny and Cathartic” – The Scotsman
“A Comedy masterclass” – Edinburgh Evening News
“A voice of the People” – The Metro

The three China’s
In 1977 times were more innocent and ‘Doggin’ it’ meant something very different from today! The 28th of October was the day that was going to change everything for George and his friends. The Sex Pistols released ‘Never mind the bollocks’. The boys had to be the first in school to get a copy, but this meant ‘dogging it’. Will they be able to cobble together the £2.99 to get to John Menzies to buy the first copy? Will they get caught sneaking out of school? Will their parents come back early? And will it really be year zero or will they continue to shine on like a crazy diamond? The Three China’s return from a sell out run at the Edinburgh festival with their hilarious new play written by John Hughes and directed by Bafta nominated director Graeme Dallas.
